IELTS terms and conditions

It is important that you read and accept the IELTS terms and conditions when you register for the test.

You also receive the terms and conditions in the Information for Candidates brochure, which is included with the application form.

The terms and conditions contain important information, including details of:

the rules you need to follow

security precautions taken when you sit your test

the results process

cancellation process

how we use your information.

When you sign the declaration in the application form or tick the terms and conditions box if you are applying online, you are confirming that you have read and understood the IELTS terms and conditions and agree to abide by them.

If you take IELTS Online, you will be required to show your identification document at the start of each of the test sections.

Requirements to book for the test:

Make sure you have a form of valid ID (passport or national ID card) at hand. Please note that candidates under 18 years of age have to supply written consent by a parent or guardian in order to apply for a test place.

Read our Information for Candidates , which contains important information about the test format, the question types and the test results. Please note that IELTS is not recommended for test takers under the age of 16.

Pay for your test. Payment can be made by bank transfer and also accept walk-in payments by using bank cards at our British Council Yangon (Kanna Street) Office.

After completing your IELTS registration:

You will receive a confirmation giving you the start time of your test and the venue address. 

Your Speaking test may be scheduled on the same day as the other sections, or on a different day within a 7 day window before or after your main test day. The test centre will send you a confirmation for the Speaking Test date.

You will also receive an automatic email with your access codes to the free online course: IELTS Ready Premium

You will also receive your IELTS Reference Number to access the Test Taker Portal. Please make sure that you have included your email address correctly when you make your IELTS booking.

Booking Your Test: 

To register for the IELTS exam, you can book directly through the British Council's official website. Visit https://www.britishcouncil.org.mm/exam/ielts/book-test to find available dates and locations for your test. It's a straightforward process that you can complete on your own.
